Isolation treatment: At home, a nebulizer should be used in a separate, well-ventilated area (e.g., a room with open windows, a porch, patio, or garage) to reduce contact with uninfected family members.
Keep your distance: Others should stay at least 2 meters (6 feet) away from the patient during treatment.
Don’t share equipment: Never share a nebulizer with any family member.
Cleaning and Disinfection: Always clean and disinfect nebulizer accessories (not including tubing) according to manufacturer's instructions after each use.
Device used: Use a mouthpiece instead of a face mask whenever possible as mouthpieces reduce aerosol dissipation. Attaching a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter to the exhalation port of the nebulizer can further reduce the spread of exhaled aerosols.
Clean the environment: After treatment, clean all surfaces in the mist area (e.g., doorknobs, tabletops, light switches).
Restrict Access: After fogging is complete, allow the room to remain empty for 30 minutes before allowing others to enter.
